J.L. Chave SELECTION Offerus, St-Joseph

J.L. Chave's Sélection wines express the same precision and integrity that define the family's benchmark Hermitage. Offerus is drawn from a series of hillside vineyards in St-Joseph, many owned by long-term growers who work closely with the Chave family. Jean-Louis Chave blends and matures the wine himself, combining parcels from granite slopes around Mauves and Tournon. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel before ageing for around a year in older oak barrels to retain purity and freshness.

The 2023 Offerus is typical of the style: lifted aromas of black cherry, plum and olive, with savoury notes of smoke and spice from the northern Rhône's schist and granite soils. The palate shows depth and energy, framed by fine tannins and a line of mineral tension. It offers the character and authenticity of a great St-Joseph, made by one of the Rhône's most respected families.
