Jacques Selosse Champagne Brut Initial Blanc de Blanc (Disg 2024)

Jacques Selosse's Initial is a Champagne of rare precision and character, drawn entirely from Chardonnay grown in the Grand Cru villages of Avize, Cramant and Oger. Each parcel is vinified separately in old oak barrels, in line with Anselme Selosse's belief that Champagne should express its origins as clearly as any still wine. The blend spans three consecutive vintages, with extended ageing on lees to build depth and texture.

On the nose, Initial shows ripe orchard fruit, toasted brioche and a faint saline edge from the chalk soils. The palate is broad yet finely etched, revealing layers of citrus, pear and almond with a persistent mineral line. This cuvée marks the entry point to the Selosse range but embodies the house's philosophy: biodynamic farming, oxidative handling, and absolute transparency of terroir. Every release reaffirms why Selosse remains one of Champagne's most sought-after growers.
