About this wine
Vigne Comte de Chapelle Bourgogne Blanc
The entry-level chardonnay by Vigne Comte de Chapelle is a charmingly confident Bourgogne Blanc. The nose is fresh, with pear, citrus, and white flowers, while the palate follows suit, with a pleasing depth of flavour that achieves depth, and length, without ever feeling heavy.
Bass Phillip’s Burgundian outpost, Vigne Comte de Chapelle, produces 14 wines that complement, and challenge, their acclaimed portfolio of Australian pinot noir and chardonnay. Owner, and chief winemaker, Jean-Marie Fourrier envisions Vigne Comte de Chapelle ‘sitting alongside Bass Phillip as a distinguished yet approachable option, offering a unique yet familiar quality that resonates with both new and seasoned wine enthusiasts.’

This is the new project from Fourrier focussing on Cotes de Beaune, yet made from Fourrier vineyards and at the Fourrier winery.
Soft and supple, a nutty discourse amongst plumper, stone fruit and pear characters, some candlewax notes and touches of cinnamon toast. Sits at medium weight but stains the palate too, the finish crackles with nervy acidity and light, saline notes. Impressive concentration and good balance likewise. Classic, per se.

This white has excellent freshness and density, balanced by salty freshness. Notes of Asian pears, sliced apples and hazelnuts are followed by a compact, medium- to full-bodied palate. Drink now.
