JOSEPH DROUHIN, Chassagne-Montrachet 2023 Bottle
About this wine
Joseph Drouhin, Chassagne-Montrachet
Maison Joseph Drouhin sources fruit from select parcels across Chassagne-Montrachet, focusing on clay-limestone soils that define this southern Côte de Beaune appellation. The Drouhin family manages these vineyards with biodynamic principles, aiming to capture the distinct structural weight and mineral core typical of the village.
In the cellar, head winemaker Véronique Drouhin oversees a traditional vinification process. The wine ferments and matures in French oak barrels, normally utilising 20% new oak over 12 months. This restrained barrel program develops texture without masking the fruit, relying on indigenous yeasts to maintain regional authenticity year after year.
Every vintage delivers consistent typicity. The nose offers aromas of white flowers, toasted brioche, and flint, which lead to a palate balanced by ripe stone fruit and a firm line of acidity. This structural tension provides excellent cellaring potential, making it a reliable addition to any collection of white Burgundy.
