Expert Review
Campbell Mattinson
This is a mid-weight red with a long, flat sheet of tannin running from the mid palate onwards. This tannin is the wine’s main quality marker. The fruit is good if fractionally dilute; the flavours flow evenly and well without ever really sparking excitement. Toasty oak plays only a minor role and the fruit feels varietal and varied. As a broad stroke you’d call this a Claret style of cabernet, not the usual persona of Katnook cabernet. Accordingly it will be best consumed given a handful of years in the cellar.

A nicely proportioned wine with ripeness and reserve. The fruit has an appealing elegance, and the palate is finely crafted and well-tuned. I enjoy the integrity of this wine and its quiet confidence. The acidity and tannin need a little time to settle, so cellaring is required to bring out its best.
