Produced in Austria's Seewinkel region on the eastern shores of Lake Neusiedl, Kracher No 5 Grande Cuvée Trockenbeerenauslese relies on a unique local microclimate. Shallow warm-water lakes create dense morning fogs that encourage noble rot, drying the berries directly on the vine to concentrate sugars, acids and flavours.
Winemaker Gerhard Kracher crafts this cuvée from a blend of Welschriesling and Chardonnay. The Chardonnay ferments and ages in French oak barriques, while the Welschriesling matures in larger oak casks. This wood integration adds texture and structure without masking the fruit purity.
The nose reveals dried apricot, citrus peel, honey and subtle toasted nuts. On the palate, concentrated sweetness balances against natural acidity, offering notes of marmalade, stone fruit and spice with a saline finish.
