KRACHER No 6 Grande Cuvee Trockenbeerenauslese , Burgenland 2001 Half Bottle
About this wine
Kracher No 6 Grande Cuvee Trockenbeerenauslese , Burgenland
On the shallow salt lakes of Burgenland's Seewinkel region, autumn dampness and warm winds create ideal conditions for Botrytis cinerea. Weinlaubenhof Kracher relies on this microclimate to produce sweet wines with remarkable depth and concentration. The Grande Cuvée reflects Alois Kracher's late-life push to bring clarity, lift, and modern precision to traditional Austrian dessert styles.
This bottling blends Chardonnay and Welschriesling harvested by hand. In line with Kracher's Nouvelle Vague approach, the components ferment and mature in French oak barriques. This oak contact adds structural weight without overwhelming the fruit's natural acidity.
Expect a nose of dried apricot, yellow peach, honeycomb, and subtle vanilla spice. The palate delivers dense tropical fruit, stone fruit, and marmalade, supported by a distinct streak of acidity that cuts through the sweetness and keeps the long finish fresh.
