About this wine
In the words of no less than James Halliday, 'Krug is the greatest wine of Champagne'. Grande Cuvée is a touchstone for non-vintage Champagne. Krug is the only house still producing its wines in small oak casks, an essential element in developing the intense bouquet and complex flavours that characterise its Champagnes. Every Grande Cuvée release now carries an edition number, beginning in 2017 with the 163rd Edition. Typically, a Grande Cuvée ‘Edition’ is 20 years in the making, built around a single vintage but with balancing components from numerous other vintages and hundreds of different sites. It will also typically include substantial contributions from the three permitted varieties, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Under the ‘Edition’ regime it is possible for the buyer to identify the exact makeup of each wine.
