About this wine
LA CROIX DE BEAUCAILLOU Second wine of Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien
La Croix de Beaucaillou is the highly regarded second wine of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, itself a prestigious Second Growth estate in Saint-Julien, Bordeaux. Crafted from a selection of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and sometimes Petit Verdot, La Croix de Beaucaillou is known for its elegance, purity, and freshness, offering aromas of black fruits and olives, with a rich yet refined palate and fine, silky tannins. While designed to be more accessible and earlier-drinking than the grand vin, it consistently delivers the classic Saint-Julien style-harmonious, structured, and ageworthy-often with a distinct terroir-driven character and a level of quality that rivals many classified growths.

Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou
Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is a prestigious second growth (Deuxième Cru Classé) Chateau in Saint-Julien. Owned by the Borie family, the estate has 75 ha of vineyards encircling the Chateau, running alongside the Gironde river and extending to the fringes of the town of St Julien. The vineyards anchored on deep gravel and pebble soils are planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. The Chateau is widely considered a ‘super-second’, consistently producing a deeply coloured rich and powerful wine with tremendous capacity to age. A second wine called La Croix de Beaucaillou is also produced.
