Chris Ringland The Maker and Glaetzer AMON-Ra 12 Pack Shiraz, Barossa Valley Upgrade offer - Save over 50%
Chris Ringland is one of Australia’s most beloved winemakers with a loyal following approaching obsession. Secure ten bottles of the limited-release Chris Ringland The Maker Edition Barossa Shiraz 2020 (RRP $30) overflowing with all the power and rich bravado we love and expect from Rignland’s wines. Sourced from vineyards just south of the historic township of Tanunda, this lavish wine has had extended time in oak to ensure it is primed for a long and fruitful stay in the cellar. If you lack the patience, this is a wine ready to impress at all stages in its life.
Our expectations of the AMON-Ra are that it is a deeply layered and sophisticated wine made to evolve over a long life in the cellar and be enjoyable anytime. The two upgrade bottles of Glaetzer Wines AMON-Ra Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021 (RRP $200) are all that and more. The 2021 vintage (a relief after the low-yielding previous two years) delivered close to perfect conditions for a standout AMON-Ra; as Glaetzer says, ‘the long “Indian Summer’ gave great ripeness and phenolic concentration.’ The fruit is sourced from prestigious old vines (50-130 years old) in the famed Ebenezer sub-district at the northern tip of the Barossa Valley. Vine age 50—130 years old. This is a serious wine in one of its finest outings. The maths on this upgraded 12-pack means that both of these 97-point AMON-Ras are on us.
In this this 12-pack you’ll find:
10 x Chris Ringland The Maker Edition Barossa Shiraz 2020
2 x Glaetzer Wines AMON-Ra Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021

A wine that illustrates how traditional Barossa can be expressed in modern hands. It’s a Shiraz from 50 to 130 year old Ebenezer vines, revealing power and poise. Traditional open fermentation was adopted with hand plunging three times a day. Deep plum and minerally characters merge on the nose. A slightly cedary factor lifts with a dense dark chocolate and spicy plum. Chalky fine tannins perfectly integrated combine to take a concentrated powerful palate to an effortlessly long finish.

The Amon-Ra is a wine that's well known for its graceful aging capacity, and so, in a vintage like 2021 (long, cooler than the horrendously low-yielding and drought-addled 2020 and 2019 prior), the release is eagerly anticipated. The 2021 Amon-Ra Shiraz is complete, in a word. The purple and red berries in the mouth are fresh and supple, the flow of flavor across the tongue feels unbroken and svelte, and the aftertaste is padded by chewy, pliable tannins. This is a real pleasure, and not just now—it will be later, too. 15% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.

Shiraz sourced from vines between 50 to 130 years of age in the renowned northern Barossa subregion of Ebenezer; 16 months in new French and American oak. A wine of impact and purity. Beautiful ripe black plum, cassis and black cherry fruits with hints of cedar, baking spices, dark chocolate, licorice, nutmeg, espresso, earth and graphite. Power and harmony writ large with cascading tannin, lacy acidity and great depth and concentration ... I feel it needs one of those big, old Batman-style 'KAPOW!!' boxes for emphasis. It's a cracker.
