This one goes to eleven. Gee, I really don’t get across much Coonawarra Cabernet these days.
Blackcurrant, rolling tobacco, some mint and cocoa. Just over medium-bodied, ripe and juicy, sooty tannin, pleasing density and chewy feel, fresh acidity, sort of a rosehip flavour on a finish of fine length.

A full-bodied red with a tight and compacted palate with blackcurrants and a spearmint character. Tobacco as well as menthol. Medium to full body. Creamy tannins and a juicy finish. Slightly chewy. Give it four or five years of bottle age. Better after 2026.

As a Test tragic, I've got to tell you, it's a pleasure to be faced with so many cricketing references. Fruit from the Penola Cricket Ground vineyard, matured for 12 months in French oak. There is a highly attractive, pure core of fruit on the mid palate (cassis, blackberry and blood plum swirl in a vortex of flavour here), cloistered by savoury, exotically spiced tannins. The length of flavour too, is admirable, providing ample opportunity for more flavours to emerge. The fine tannins that shape this elegant wine are a highlight; chalky, shapely and a little bit chewy (good).
