About this wine
LANGTONS HASELGROVE WINES Sunrach Shiraz with a Bin 389 upgrade, 12 Pack
Haselgrove’s Sunrach Shiraz is a small-batch release drawn from select parcels across McLaren Vale, focusing on vineyard blocks that deliver depth, structure and freshness. The fruit is hand-picked and sorted, then fermented in open fermenters with a mix of pump-overs and plunging. Maturation takes place over 18 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak, with the aim of building complexity while retaining regional character. Star winemaker Alex Sherrah leads winemaking. The nose typically shows blackberry, plum and dried herbs with a subtle earthy edge. Sunrach leans into dark fruit and spice on the palate, with firm tannins and balanced acidity giving shape and length. While approachable in youth, the wine has the structure to evolve nicely in a bottle. Produced in limited volumes and only in strong vintages, Sunrach is positioned at the top of the Haselgrove range and offers serious value for cellar-minded Shiraz drinkers.
In this 12-pack, you will find:
10 x Haselgrove Sunrach Shiraz, McLaren Vale 2021

Andrew Caillard MW
Deep crimson. Attractive blackberry dark chocolate, mocha aromas with touches of dried roses and star aniseed. A beautifully balanced wine with deep set blackberry dark cherry fruits, lovely fine chocolaty textures, superb mid-plate volume and underlying mocha/ espresso notes. Concentrated, vigorous and flowing with superb fruit complexity, density and mineral length. Plenty of Baby Grange fat. A magnificent Bin 389 with a long cellaring career ahead. McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Barossa Valley, Padthaway, Wrattonbully. 51% cabernet sauvignon 49% shiraz.

Grapes sourced from McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Barossa Valley, Padthaway and Wrattonbully. 51% cabernet sauvignon, 49% shiraz. 12 months in American oak, 37% new. This is a commanding Bin 389. It’s svelte and smooth but the penetration of the finish, meshed with tannin as it is, is right up there. Bay, blackcurrant, vanilla, licorice and sweet, plump plums create a deep, rich impression, though it all comes with sinew and it all comes with bone. It’s a familiar flavour profile but this 2022 release is really well formed, and executed. There’s flavour, there’s flex, there’s class.
