We start with Giacomo Fenocchio Cannubi Barolo DOCG 2018, with classic notes of ‘tar and roses’, white pepper and wild berries; graceful, and ready to drink. Then we have Poderi Luigi Einaudi ‘Bussia’ Barolo DOCG 2018, a deep, powerful and savoury wine with notes of leather, dark plum and tobacco. Its firm, structured tannins demand a hearty meal, like truffle risotto or braised beef. The final selection from the 2018 vintage is Azienda Agricola Cascina Pugnane ‘Pugnane’ Barolo DOCG 2018, offering velvety tannins, dark cherry, licorice and an earthy finish typical of the region’s unique soils.

Moving to the 2020 vintage we have Boroli Barolo DOCG 2020: with bright red fruits, fresh acidity and subtle spice it’s open, expressive and a benchmark for what a young, fresh Barolo can be. We also have Giovanni Rosso Serralunga d’Alba Barolo DOCG 2020, a deeply savoury wine with balsamic notes, black tea and muscular tannins wrapped in the 2020 vintage’s bright, accessible fruit. Our journey ends in 2021, with Elvio Cogno ‘Cascina Nuova’ Barolo DOCG 2021, an exceptionally bright and precise wine with crunchy red currants, rose petals and a crisp, clean finish.
