Has the usual estate blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and malbec (92/4/3/1%), the grapes hand picked on fruit days between early February and early March, the components matured in French oak (50% new) for 13 months. The perfumed bouquet has already soaked up the new oak, the purity of the fruit in a cassis-redcurrant-blueberry spectrum. The small berries of a quasi-drought summer might have imposed awkward tannins, but the medium-bodied palate is so perfectly balanced it has a drinking span of 30 years and counting.

500 cases made. Two-thirds from Bridge Pa with the rest from Gimblett Gravels. The wine has an appealing initial upfront sweet berry with savoury, chocolate and classy oak flavours. Rich and weighty, with mocha and hints of spice leading to a beautifully layered finish. Lovely textural wine that starts well and has a fireworks finish. It’s a big, chewy wine - surprisingly accessible for a cabernet sauvignon-dominant wine showing obvious potential.

A rich and assertive chardonnay with real power and depth, this delivers abundant peaches, lemon curd and spice with a gently nutty thread in the background. The palate is assertive, crisp and concentrated; it crystallises and delivers real purity and a bracing sense of refreshment with lemon and nectarine fruits.

A fragrant nose of dark cherries, blueberries, dried flowers and spices. Crushed stones and tea leaves, too. Medium-bodied with tightly knit tannins and bright acidity. So pure, mineral and focused with a very fine texture.
