Seppeltsfield EC405 Shiraz Mataro Barossa
Seppeltsfield takes on the powerful Shiraz Mataro blend with its EC405, a deep, dark, and driving Barossan red with earthy depth and luxurious fruit. Fermented in the iconic ‘Gravity Cellar’ (completed in 1888), the visionary design allows fruit to flow freely down through the winery, a ‘minimal intervention’ technique well before its time.

The wine is forceful but well balanced, with redolent perfume (think lavender, spice, and earth) and a palate that leans towards the savoury spectrum with dark chocolate, rich fruit, and earth again. Both varieties were matured separately in French oak hogsheads.

Torbreck The Sporran Shiraz, Barossa Valley
A quintessential Torbreck wine, the Sporran Shiraz is widely considered one of their best value wines. One sip, however, of this plush and silky wine will drive all care for ‘value’ out the window. A highly concentrated expression of a Barossa Shiraz, this wine is bold and rich with supple tannins. Expect a complex nose of dark fruit and spice with a diverse palate of black fruits that will age beautifully well into the future.

Greenock Creek Block 3 Shiraz Barossa Valley
Greenock Creek’s single vineyard Block 3 Shiraz hails from the Moppa subregion of Barossa Valley’s Western Ridge. Fruit comes from a parcel perched at the block’s highest point, albeit protected from the sun and benefitting from cool breezes. The result is gentle, controlled ripening of the grapes, allowing for a complex Barossan red with gorgeous acidity to intersperse that textbook, tarry richness.

Schubert Estate The Gander Reserve Shiraz Barossa Valley
Schubert Estate The Gander Reserve Shiraz is unapologetically Barossa. A flagship of the Schubert oeuvre, it uses only the very best fruit grown in the Schubert vineyard. Grapes are hand-picked, and aged in 100% new French oak before two years maturation. Then, and only then, are the very best barrels selected for The Gander. Near tarry black in the glass, a healthy respect for intensity and concentration is a non-negotiable. Violets, black cherry, and Christmas spice bound from the glass, with a palate of black plum, cassis, olive tapenade, cedar and vanilla.
