le pin
LE PIN, Pomerol 2022 Bottle
About this wine
Founded in 1979 by Jacques Thienpont, Le Pin takes its name from the solitary pine tree standing alongside its modest vineyard plot on Pomerol's gravelly clay plateau. Spanning less than three hectares, the estate pioneered a micro-boutique approach in Bordeaux, producing minute quantities that quickly established it as one of the region's most coveted labels.
The vineyard is planted almost entirely with Merlot, grown in iron-rich gravel soils that deliver low yields and exceptional fruit concentration. Winemaking is meticulous: fruit is sorted by hand, fermented in small temperature-controlled vats, and matured in French oak barrels (a high proportion of which are new) for up to 18 months.
Across vintages, Le Pin delivers distinct aromas of dark plum, black cherry, dried herbs and cedar oak. On the palate, expect plush fruit, fine tannins, balanced acidity and a long finish defined by cocoa, spice and dark berry flavours.
