Luce Della Vite Lux Vitis Toscana IGT

Lux Vitis originates from a specific 2004 planting of Cabernet Sauvignon on the Tenuta Luce estate in Montalcino. While the region is synonymous with Sangiovese, this site’s sandy, mixed-clay soils proved better suited to Cabernet. The wine serves as a technical exploration of how this international variety adapts to the high-altitude Tuscan sun. It is produced in limited quantities, positioned as a prestige bottling for collectors seeking a distinct interpretation of the estate’s terroir.

The winemaking focuses on structure and longevity. After harvest, the fruit undergoes fermentation in cement tanks at 28–30°C for approximately 20 days. To refine the naturally robust tannins of the Cabernet, the wine matures for 24 months in new French oak barriques. This period allows the fruit and oak to integrate, creating a stable foundation for decades of cellaring. The final blend typically includes a small percentage of Sangiovese to add regional character.

On the nose, Lux Vitis delivers consistent notes of blackcurrant, graphite, and Mediterranean scrub. The palate is full-bodied and precise, characterised by a dense core of dark plum, cocoa nib, and black pepper. Its hallmark is a firm, architectural tannin structure balanced by a fresh acidity that prevents the wine from feeling heavy. It is a serious, authoritative red that offers a clear alternative to the estate's classic blends.
