Mac Forbes is one of the leading figures heading up the movement towards Australian sub-regionality. A native of the Yarra Valley (he worked with the late Dr John Middleton at Mount Mary) he has built an independent name for himself since he returned to the Yarra from various European and interstate winemaking and viticultural gigs in 2005. An extensive array of wines are made under the Mac Forbes label including a number of sub-regional Yarra Valley wines, a range of Strathbogie Ranges wines and a number of Experimental Batch wines which push the boundaries of traditional Australian styles.
