Mastrojanni San Pio IGT Toscana

Mastrojanni produces San Pio at their estate in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, located in the southern reaches of Montalcino. This blend pairs Sangiovese's structure with Cabernet Sauvignon's richness. The fruit comes from established vineyards where stony soils and a warm microclimate ensure consistent ripening. This wine represents a modern Tuscan classic, offering the prestige of a top Brunello producer with the approachability of a regional blend.

The winemaking process involves separate fermentation for each variety in cement tanks. Winemaker Andrea Machetti ages the wine for eighteen months in French oak barrels. This maturation period integrates the tannins and develops aromatic complexity without masking the fruit. The final blend rests in the bottle for several months before release to ensure balance and stability.

The nose delivers aromas of black cherry, plum and cedar. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and firm, showing flavours of dark berries, tobacco and spice.
