Nizza is a relatively recent appellation specifically for Barbera, in an area where it is the leading variety. The Chiarlo family specialises in the four greatest Piedmont varietals: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cortese and Moscato. The business was founded in 1956 by Michele and Giuseppina Chiarlo, although Michele is a seventh generation winegrower. The Cipressi wine gets its name from the cypress trees that line a ridge above the vineyard. The wine itself is noted for flavours of raspberries, cherries, and blackberries.
