MMAD Grenache, McLaren Vale
MMAD Grenache is sourced from a single vineyard in Blewitt Springs, planted in 1939. The site’s deep sands and elevated position offer ideal conditions for old-vine Grenache. MMAD is a collaboration between Michael Hill Smith MW, Martin Shaw, Adam Wadewitz, and David LeMire MW—bringing decades of winemaking and wine trade experience to bear on a focused range of site-driven wines.
The Grenache is hand-picked and fermented with a portion of whole bunches to build structure and add lift. Ageing takes place in large-format seasoned oak to preserve fruit and site character.
Each vintage shows red fruits, dry spices and crushed herbs on the nose, with a savoury thread and fine tannins on the palate. It carries flavour without weight, with a long finish shaped by the site’s natural freshness. This is a McLaren Vale Grenache made with restraint, clarity, and the confidence to let the vineyard speak.
