ABOUT THE WINERY
Moorooduc Estate
Langton’s Selections Moorooduc Estate The Moorooduc Chardonnay, Moorooduc Estate The Moorooduc Pinot Noir Moorooduc Estate is one of the Mornington Peninsula's oldest working wineries and is located in the warmer, drier climes of the northern sub region. Established by medico Richard McIntyre in 1982, it comprises 12 acres of vineyard planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. At one stage the ambitions of this rather beautiful Estate were very ambitious but it has settled back into a more comfortable focus on top end wines and the whole wine & food lifestyle. The Derill Road Vineyard provides fruit for the reserve style wines, The Moorooduc Chardonnay and The Moorooduc Pinot Noir. Both wines are made in Burgundian fashion. The Pinot Noir is aged in 40% new and seasoned French oak for around 14 months. The wines are beautifully made and fully articulate the best of vineyard site, winemaking philosophy and enquiry. Daughter Kate McIntyre – a remarkably gifted wine professional – is involved in this especially lovely wine business. Moorooduc features periodically on the secondary wine market, but the wines are worth seeking out, even the Shiraz. Andrew Caillard MW, Langton's
