MOUZON LEROUX L'Incandescent Rose de Saignee, Verzy, Grand Cru NV Bottle
About this wine
Mouzon-Leroux L'Incandescent Rosé de Saignée, Verzy, Grand Cru
Mouzon-Leroux's L'Incandescent Rosé de Saignée comes from Verzy, one of Champagne's prized Grand Cru villages on the Montagne de Reims. Winemaker Sébastien Mouzon farms biodynamically, focusing on Pinot Noir from estate parcels where shallow chalk meets clay and flint. The wine is made using the saignée method: a short maceration of whole berries to extract both colour and structure, followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts. A portion matures in barrel to build texture and savoury depth, and the finished wine rests on lees for several years before release. Each bottling reflects both vineyard and season rather than a fixed recipe. Expect lifted red fruit, blood orange and spice on the nose, a supple palate driven by ripe strawberry and cranberry, with a hint of chalky grip. It's a serious grower Champagne that shows how characterful rosé can be when treated with the same precision as a delicate blanc de noirs.
