About this wine
MUNDA WINES Wagalu Country Chardonnay, Tumbarumba
Munda chooses minimal intervention in the winery, and prefers to bottle relatively early to reflect the brightness of their wines. Traditional fermentation in seasoned French oak barriques, with 100% malolactic fermentation, gives a textural and full flavoured wine with aromas of light white stone fruit and white flowers, citrus, beeswax, toasted muesli and nuts, with background exotic spices. One the palate the wine is balanced with fine acidity that gives a focused line to the palate.

Expert Review
James Halliday
Barrel fermented and matured for eight months in used French oaks. Transparent quartz white. Has finesse stamped all over it and the balance and length to slowly gain depth to its super-tight flavours of grapefruit, white peach and Granny Smith apples. A seriously good wine in the making. 6000 bottles made.

Intense aromas of lemon pith, quince, nectarine, mandarin zest, yellow blossom, pink grapefruit, with a mineral-salty sharp edge cutting through. A vibrant, yet seductive/velvet acidity, with a strong mid palate presence as you are almost sucking into a Meyer lemon or freshly shucked oyster. It’s a Chardonnay with a well-defined “six-pack” and the athletic silhouette of an Olympic 100m runner. A runner that keeps the momentum until the very end of the sprint, with an incredibly savoury/nutty, citrusy, juicy aftertaste. If this is the Walgalu Country (Tumbarumba) speaking, then I’m all ears. Enjoy with grilled abalone, Smoky Bay oysters, or razor fish. Drink: now- 2030.
