Oakridge Wines Vineyard Series Henk Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley
Henk Vineyard is a north-facing site of meagre red volcanic soils, poised at a gentle altitude of 225 metres. The vineyard’s Pinot Noir receives traditional winemaking techniques in the winery, including 80% whole berry fermentation and 20% whole bunches in open vessels for two weeks. 10 months maturation in French oak barrels never overwhelms the fruit, allowing the vineyard’s unique terroir to shine through. It is these single vineyard expressions across which the estate’s signature attention to detail unwinds, rivet by rivet.

Oakridge Estate, founded in 1978, has had a longstanding reputation for quality. It has been blessed with a succession of talented winemakers. The winery, located at 864 Maroondah Highway at Coldstream in the Yarra Valley, is led by esteemed veteran winemaker Dave Bicknell. It is under his watch that Oakridge has blossomed and excelled. The fruit is sourced from both owned and independent grower vineyards. David and his team are renowned for producing exceptional single vineyard wines made with minimal intervention, and in using innovative and sustainable practices in winemaking and viticulture. The wines are beautifully made and illustrate the idea that winemaker’s intuition and skill are completely intertwined with the idea of distinguished vineyard site. The Reserve style wines, labelled 864 and released in top vintages, are outstanding and comprise a Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
