A defining feature of this vintage (apart from lower yields) is accessibility in the wines. Here the Estate offers plushness, personality and satisfaction. Expect juniper and red cherries, with a sprinkling of baking spices infused into a fuller-bodied style. Smooth, supple tannins sashay across the palate.

Huon Hooke
Deep red-purple colour with a strongly oaky bouquet, the barrel aromas taking centre stage. It's the same in the mouth: a wine that misses the mark entirely with wood-maturation. There's some oaky astringency also. No doubt the aromas/flavours will mellow in time but it will always be an oaky style. On the plus side, there is excellent concentration, ripeness, depth of flavour and length. Really good, just a smidgin too oaky.

The 2019 Pinot Noir is laden with sweet fruit, stretched over a web of fine, black tea tannins. This delivers pleasure and a pleasing amount of cerebral engagement at once—a very cool combination. It has notes of cranberry, cherry, pink peppercorns, some orange zest and layers of leaf (saltbush, dried oregano and a hint of sandalwood). I can't decide if the acidity (saline, fresh, cooling) or the tannins are the highlight here for me. This is a beautiful wine.

A bright, energetic pinot with aromas of strawberries, cranberries, raspberries, rose hips and lemons. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a juicy, transparent core of red fruit. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
