About this wine
Patrick Sullivan Pinot Noir Gippsland
The fruit for the idiosyncratic Patrick Sullivan Pinot Noir comes from two vineyards: Berry's Creek in South Gippsland and Maffra in Central Gippsland. Berry's Creek is planted to a high density of 7000 vines per hectare at 200m above sea level on volcanic loam over clay. The Maffra vineyard was planted at sea level to MV6 Pinot Noir on soils of sandy loam and clay.

Expert Review
Mike Bennie
Berry-cherry, floral scented pinot with vibrancy and freshness as calling cards. Lively to taste, light and fresh, dances on the palate and gets shape from a lithe frame of delicate, lacy tannin and crisp acidity. It’s ultra pure and refreshing. Finishes a little quickly, a little sooty, but generally this feels like a lovely and easy to like.

Huon Hooke
Medium-depth red colour with a good purple rim and a bouquet that summons Chinotto, Campari and other bitter Italian herb aromas, due in part at least to whole-bunch fermentation (only 10% in fact). Lots of sour cherry and sap to sniff. The wine is medium to light-bodied and has a lot of texture from soft tannins, which confer a touch of sappy bitterness. A nice wine, which will be better after a year or so when it will have softened and harmonised even better. (Matured only in seasoned oak)
