Andrew Caillard MW
Medium deep crimson. Fragrant blackcurrant, mocha, tobacco leaf, bush-garrigue aromas with hints of aniseed. A classical Coonawarra claret style with attractive cassis, mocha, roasted walnut, hint tobacco leaf, chinotto flavours, lovely mid-palate density and fruit sweetness, fine supple grainy tannins and integrated acidity. Finishes firm with a fine tannin plume. A beautiful wine. Cabernet Sauvignon (63%), Merlot (33% ) & Shiraz (4%). Drink now – 2035.

Deepish colour, starting to show some development, while the bouquet has metallic, smoked-meat and cedary, pencil-wood developed characters, the palate sinewy and gritty with a touch of bitterness in the tannins. Slightly metallic acidity. There's a lot of oak here, both in nose and palate but especially present on the aftertaste. It's very chewy and needs a hearty steak. (63% cabernet sauvignon 33% merlot 4% shiraz)

Dark fruited, woody and nutty, choc-liquorice and salted plums, dark berries with cinnamon and clove liberally dusted over. It’s a heady, medium weight style with a sheath of gummy-sooty-cedary tannins woven over that sluice of drying fruit and spice character. Feels a bit baked and breathy for a prestigious wine at six years old, the finish a little brittle with tart, lemony tang too. Feels almost like it gets there, but either drink now, or in twenty years in full benign decay, I reckon.

63.4/32.6/4% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/shiraz. Full of oak – 90% new, aged 18 months. It is very ripe with lots of tannin and a plushness throughout. No doubt this has been built to age, but tough going now, even with a few years under its belt.
