Picardy Tête De Cuvée Pemberton Pinot Noir
Made from 10 different clones (mostly the newer Dijon clones imported from Burgundy) and sourced mainly from a 0.1ha block planted to a density of 10,000 vines per hectare, the Pinot Noir Tête De Cuvée is Picardy's flagship wine and what a beauty it is.
In the winery, 30% whole bunches are used to give the wine both structure and complexity and the wine is matured in a judicious combination of new to four-year-old barriques for 10 months. Released a year after the Pinot of the same year, this is full of dark fruits, spice and the sort of tannin and structure you see in top-flight Burgundy. Decant this now or enjoy watching this unfurl over at least the next 7-10 years.
