About this wine

PIRRAMIMMA Trademark Shiraz, McLaren Vale

Pirramimma's Trademark Shiraz is sourced from one of the region's oldest estates, with roots going back over 130 years. The winemaking approach focuses on power and elegance, resulting in a concentrated yet refined style. This flagship Shiraz offers immense value and true cellar potential. The profile is classic McLaren Vale: a rich, velvety palate packed with dark fruits, chocolate, mocha, and baking spices. High-quality cedary oak complements the dense, plummy black cherry character. The wine is structured by beautifully melded, fine tannins. An exceptional example of a powerful, age-worthy Australian red.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Pirramimma
Langton’s Selections Pirramimma White Label Cabernet Sauvignon, Pirramimma White Label Shiraz In 1892 Alexander Campbell Johnston purchased 97 hectares of rolling land including flats at McLaren Vale and established a vineyard. It has remained in family hands ever since. The name Pirramimma means ‘the moon and the stars’ in the local Aboriginal dialect. The soils vary from sandy to rich dark loams. Over 60% of the vineyards are planted to premium red wine varieties, including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Pirrammima was the first Australian winery to release a single 100% Petit Verdot wine. The White Label Cabernet Sauvignon – made from estate grown mature vines (30-40 years old) and aged in American oak for around 24 months – is a smooth chocolaty style. The White label Shiraz, also aged in for 24 months in Amercian oak, is a buoyant McLaren Vale wine with plenty of richness, sweet fruit and mocha/vanilla oak. The richly concentrated and strongly tannic White Label Petit Verdot is something of a curio, but it does have an esoteric following. The wines are made by family member Geoff Johnston who studied oenology at Charles Sturt University in New South Wales. Pirramimma has been around for a long time but has never scaled the heights of celebrity. Andrew Caillard MW, Langton's
