PODERI LUIGI EINAUDI Bussia, Barolo DOCG 2018 Bottle
About this wine
Poderi Luigi Einaudi Bussia, Barolo DOCG
Poderi Luigi Einaudi's Barolo from the Bussia cru expresses both history and precision. Founded in 1897 by Italy's second president, the estate remains family-run, now led by fourth-generation winemaker Matteo Sardagna Einaudi. The Bussia vineyard, one of Barolo's most revered sites, lies on the Monforte d'Alba ridge where altitude and calcareous marl soils produce Nebbiolo of structure and longevity.
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, preserving purity and definition before an extended maceration on skins for depth and grip. Maturation follows in a mix of large Slavonian oak and smaller French tonneaux, balancing fruit and savoury development without overt oak influence.
Each vintage shows the hallmark aromas of dried rose, dark cherry, and liquorice, supported by fine, chalky tannins and an earthy undertone. With time, it gains truffle, tar and spice – the classic markers of a well-bred Barolo built for ageing.
