RENATO RATTI Serradenari, Barolo DOCG 2020 Bottle
About this wine
Renato Ratti Serradenari, Barolo DOCG
Renato Ratti produces Serradenari from one of the highest vineyards in the Barolo zone, located in La Morra. This site reaches altitudes of nearly 500 metres, where the vines grow in clay and sand. The elevation provides a cooler microclimate and constant ventilation, which ensures a slow ripening period for the Nebbiolo grapes. This wine captures the specific characteristics of the upper reaches of the appellation, offering a style focused on finesse and aromatic clarity.
The winemaking process involves fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures. Maceration lasts approximately ten days to achieve a balanced extraction of colour and tannin. Pietro Ratti ages the wine for two years in a combination of French oak barrels and larger casks. This approach allows the wine to develop structural complexity without being influenced by excessive oak toast. The final blend rests in the bottle for several months before release.
The nose delivers scents of wild strawberry, rose petal and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and vibrant, showing flavours of red cherry, tea leaf and minerals. Fine tannins lead to a clean, persistent finish. Serradenari is an excellent choice for Australian collectors seeking a prestigious Barolo that emphasises elegance and regional precision. It is a reliable addition to any cellar.
