Ridge 'Lytton Springs' Zinfandel Blend
Ridge Vineyards has been championing Zinfandel since the 1960s, with Lytton Springs regarded as one of their most important wines. The vineyard lies in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley and is planted to old vines, many over a century old, with Zinfandel supported by Petite Sirah, Carignane, and Mataro (Mourvèdre). These deep-rooted vines produce naturally low yields, giving concentrated fruit that forms the backbone of the wine.
Winemaker John Olney uses traditional techniques, fermenting with native yeasts and ageing the wine in American oak, a hallmark of Ridge’s style. Each vintage offers a clear expression of site and season, with careful blending to balance power and freshness.
Lytton Springs typically shows aromas of blackberry, plum, and dried herbs, while the palate brings dark berry fruit, spice, and earthy complexity. Its structure and depth allow it to be enjoyed young or cellared for a decade or more.
