Rightly or wrongly, Zinfandel never received the invitation to become a member of the exclusive noble grape variety club. Easily prone to overblown excess when not handled with due care it might be easy to understand why ‘zin’ was excluded. But in the care of wine soothsayer Paul Draper and the team at Ridge in California and you see another side. Exotic spice, rich plums and wild berry fruits. Intense but balanced and ever so moreish.
