About this wine
Roberto Voerzio Riserva 10 Anni Case Nere Barolo DOCG
Roberto Voerzio produces the Riserva 10 Anni from the Case Nere vineyard in La Morra. This site is known for its prestigious terroir and high altitude. Voerzio practices extreme viticulture by limiting yields to less than five hundred grams of fruit per vine. This rigorous approach ensures the grapes achieve maximum concentration. The wine is only released after a full decade of maturation at the estate, representing the pinnacle of his production.
The winemaking follows a precise protocol. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks without the use of industrial yeasts. The wine ages for two years in French oak barriques, then several years in large casks, and finally in the bottle. Voerzio bottles the wine without fining or filtration, preserving its natural structure. This extended ageing process allows the tannins to soften and the components to integrate.
The nose features aromas of dried roses, camphor and dark berries. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured with flavours of plum, liquorice and earthy spice. A firm mineral backbone supports a long finish. This Barolo offers Australian collectors an opportunity to experience a mature, world-class Nebbiolo. It is a benchmark for power and longevity in Piedmont.
