ROCKBURN Pinot Noir, Central Otago 2021 Bottle
About this wine
Rockburn Pinot Noir, Central Otago
Rockburn is one of Central Otago’s most consistent producers of Pinot Noir with a reputation built on superb vineyard holdings and the skill and experience of winemaker Malcolm Rees-Francis, who joined Rockburn in 2005 following four-years at Felton Road.
Rockburn’s ‘hands-off’ winemaking approach reliably delivers a pure expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir with an expressive nose and deeply-fruited palate typically displaying notes of red cherry and mocha, supple, lithe tannins and a long finish. Rockburn is noted for its consistent display of elegance, integrity and balance.

Expert Review
Bob Campbell MW
Delicately aromatic pinot noir with floral/violet, black cherry, black-fleshed plum and bramble flavours. A fresh, vibrant wine with purity and a crisp, dry finish. Classic Central Otago pinot noir from a favourable vintage.
94 points, The Real Review (July 2022)
From the Parkburn and Gibbston Valley vineyards. Aromatic pinot noir with floral/red rose, ripe plum, black currant, wood smoke, anise and smoky oak flavours. Well made and appealing wine.
94 points, The Real Review (May 2022)

This consistently stylish blend of Parkburn (principally) and Gibbston grapes typically has concentrated cherry, plum and dried-herb flavours, silky-textured and perfumed. The 2021 vintage (5*) is a very refined, savoury red. Estate-grown at Parkburn, in the Cromwell Basin (85 per cent) and at Gibbston (15 per cent), it was matured for 10 months in French oak casks (33 per cent new). Bright ruby, it is a highly approachable wine, with deep, youthful cherry, plum and spice flavours, showing excellent complexity and harmony. Best drinking 2025+.
5 Stars, Michael Cooper's Buyers Guide (September 2022)
