Sandrone Le Vigne, Barolo DOCG

Luciano Sandrone created Le Vigne as a tribute to the historical tradition of blending Nebbiolo from diverse sites. The fruit is sourced from four distinct vineyards across the Barolo region: Baudana in Serralunga d'Alba, Villero in Castiglione Falletto, Vignane in Barolo and Merli in Novello. Each plot contributes different soil characteristics, ranging from sand to compact clay. This multi-site approach ensures a balanced, complex wine that reflects a broad spectrum of the local terroir.

The winemaking involves separate fermentation for each parcel in open-top steel tanks to preserve individual vineyard traits. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for twenty-four months in 500-litre French oak casks. This choice of larger wood allows for slow oxygenation while avoiding the influence of heavy toast. The winemaker then carefully blends the components to achieve a harmonious final profile before the wine undergoes an additional eighteen months of bottle ageing.

The nose offers scents of crushed raspberry, violet and liquorice. On the palate, the wine is full and precise, featuring flavours of red cherry, tea leaf and spice. Fine tannins lead to a long, mineral finish. Le Vigne offers Australian collectors a prestigious Barolo that balances power and elegance.
