About this wine

SEPPELTSFIELD Southing Shiraz, Barossa

Seppeltsfield Southing Shiraz is a single vineyard expression from the historic Seppeltsfield estate in the Barossa Valley, crafted to highlight the distinct terroir of its southern Barossa site, specifically Chook’s Vineyard near Lyndoch. The wine is produced from small-berried, thick-skinned fruit, resulting in a very full-bodied, dense, and powerful style, with pronounced aromas of dried herbs, sage, thyme, and freshly tilled earth, supported by savoury, supple tannins and a long, reverberating finish. Made with moderate French oak influence (18-20% new oak), this Shiraz is emblematic of the classic Barossa style-intense, concentrated, and structured, yet with a sense of balance and regional authenticity.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Seppeltsfield

Seppeltsfield is a showpiece of the Barossa Valley, a magnificent complex of 19th century winery buildings surrounded by almost 100 hectares of vineyards. Seppeltsfield was a focal point of the fledgling Barossa wine industry from the 1850s and now boasts the world’s longest unbroken chain of vintage wines, going back to 1878, enabling the release of a genuine 100-year-old fortified wine each year since 1978.  Apart from the extraordinary range of fortifieds, Seppeltsfield today also produces a range of limited production table wines, including blends of Shiraz, Grenache and Touriga, and sparkling wines under the Gert’s Blend label.
