SHANGRI-LA Ao Yun Cabernet, Yunnan Province
Located in the remote foothills of the Himalayas in Yunnan Province, the estate sits between 2,200 and 2,600 metres above sea level near the Mekong River. The name translates to ‘roaring above the clouds’, a reference to the high-altitude mists that surround the sacred Meili Mountain. The vineyards consist of over 300 small plots across four villages—Adong, Xidang, Sinong, and Shuori—where the thin mountain air and intense sunlight produce grapes with thick skins and high natural acidity.
