Brothers Kym and John Davey took over the Shingleback Estate in the 1990’s from their grandfather that had farmed it since 1957. Their philosophy is to produce affordable, high quality wines evidenced by their first release in 1998. Their main focus is the red varieties of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a selection of Chardonnay and Semillon. Shingleback is a small-scale winery, which practises sustainability in the vineyard and small batch production in the winery. Their portfolio includes Shingleback, Haycutters, Red Knot and The Gate. Each range is made in its distinct style, highlighting the richness and ripeness that the McLaren Vale region can achieve.
