SHIRVINGTON Shiraz, McLaren Vale 2005 Bottle
About this wine
Shirvington Shiraz, McLaren Vale
Shirvington Shiraz from McLaren Vale was established by Paul and Lynne Shirvington. The Shirvington family’s dedication to excellence is evident in every bottle, with the winemaking led by the talented Kim Jackson.
This shiraz benefits from meticulous vineyard management and traditional winemaking techniques. The grapes are handpicked at optimal ripeness and fermented in small batches to preserve their character. Ageing in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak barrels enhances the complexity and structure of the wine.
On the nose, Shirvington Shiraz offers rich aromas of dark berries, plums, and hints of spice. The palate is robust, with flavours of blackberry, cherry, and subtle oak undertones, complemented by velvety tannins and a long, satisfying finish.

Expert Review
Robert Parker
The dense, chewy, rich, deeply-colored 2005 Shiraz is a full-bodied, ripe, intense wine, but does not reveal quite the same thrilling level of quality as the Cabernet. Nevertheless, it is no wimpy wine, boasting 16% alcohol as well as stunning richness and length.
93 points, Robert Parker (October 2006)

Wine Spectator
Supple, generous and nicely focused to show off its plush blueberry, plum, dusky spice and cream flavors, lingering extensively on the polished finish. Has high alcohol, but carries it well.
92 points, Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator (June 2007)
