Société Agricole de Lafleur, Vin de France 2025 Bottle
About this wine
Société Agricole de Lafleur
Château Lafleur has departed from the traditional Pomerol appellation system to bottle its wines as Vin de France. The Guinaudeau family made this decision to gain total viticultural flexibility, ensuring they can adapt to shifting weather patterns without bureaucratic constraints. This move shifts the focus entirely to the estate's reputation and the specific qualities of its small four-hectare vineyard.
The estate uses an equal allocation of Merlot and Bouchet, the local name for Cabernet Franc. Winemaker Baptiste Guinaudeau employs a restrained approach in the cellar, utilising stainless-steel tanks for fermentation and ageing the wine for 15 months. Only one third of the barrels are new oak, a choice that avoids wood flavours overtaking the fruit profile.
This combination creates an aromatic outline of black cherry, violet, and damp earth. The palate delivers density, chalky tannins, and an undercurrent of graphite, resulting in a structured wine built to age for decades.
