Intense and aromatic. Blackcurrant, blackberry pastille, exotic spice, pimento, bay leaf and mint. It’s medium-bodied, dense and flavoursome, with a superb ‘mineral’ feel to both acidity and tightly-wound tannin, dark chocolate and small berried black fruits and redcurrant jelly, an almost ferrous feel to gravelly tannin on a finish of prodigious length and freshness. Really like this. A lot.

The Suckfizzle vineyard is very far south on the Cape Leeuwin point, which brings with it an effortless natural acid profile. A luminescent ruby hue all but shimmers in the light. The fruit in this glass is scintillatingly pure, the acidity threaded through is briny and enlivening. The tannins provide shape and support as the carriage of flavour makes its way over the tongue, hinting at the capability of this wine to age over the coming years. Quite gorgeous now though, I bet many don't make it past middle age.

Deep, dark and youthful in the glass. Classic Margaret River aromas of dried herbs, bayleaf, bramble, blackcurrant, mulberry, leaf and menthol. Long and layered on the palate, black fruits, briar, soy, tobacco, cedar, savoury spice and underbrush. Textured tannins and lively acidity bring plenty of grip, mouth-feel and length. Sophisticated gear.
