Talenti produces Piero from a selected parcel of Sangiovese located in the southern sector of Montalcino. This vineyard is situated at an altitude of four hundred metres on soils composed of marl and clay. Riccardo Talenti created this bottling as a tribute to his father, Piero, aiming to capture the power and concentration inherent to this specific site. The vineyard's exposure ensures optimal sunlight, resulting in fruit with significant structural depth and intensity.
The winemaking process involves fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts. Following a long maceration on the skins, the wine matures for twenty-four months in a combination of French oak tonneaux and large Slavonian oak casks. This approach balances the wood's influence, allowing the fruit to remain prominent while developing complexity. The wine undergoes further refinement in the bottle before its release to the market.
The nose offers aromas of black cherry, leather and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and precise, featuring flavours of dark berries, liquorice and crushed stone. Ripe tannins provide a firm structure that supports a long, savoury finish. This Brunello is a prestigious addition to any collection, offering Australian enthusiasts a clear expression of southern Montalcino terroir and excellent cellaring potential.
