The 2019 Poggio alle Gazze is bright and beautifully sculpted in this vintage. Lemon peel, white flowers, apple and exotic floral notes are nicely delineated. This is an especially perfumed edition of Poggio alle Gazze. Lime, green apple and exotic floral notes lead into the super-expressive finish.

Clean and crisp on the nose, this smells inviting with a white florality and fresh fruit aroma to it full of peach, pear and green apple alongside baked vanilla notes. Aromatic on the palate too with candied lemon peel and pear notes and hints of spice on the finish which adds interest and structure. Excellent concentration, opulent and generous with a nice roundness to the overall feel. Will age well. Made from 91% Sauvignon Blanc and 9% Viognier.

With a later-than-usual harvest, the 2019 Poggio has plenty of aromatic flair. Separate lots were fermented in a mixture of barrique, stainless steel and concrete, with no malo. After maturing on fine lees for six months with regular batonnage, the final blend was assembled and matured for a further 12 months. The nose is dominated by exotic Sauvignon scents of green fruits, peach and orange blossom. In the mouth it has a rich, creamy leesy quality supported by subtle woodiness, bright yet integrated acidity, and flavours of lanolin, orange rind, green fruits, lychee and peach. The finish is long, floral and saline, demonstrating excellent freshness despite the hot, dry summer, with a lingering note of toasted pineapple. Flexible food wine.
