Terroir al Limit Terra de Cuques, Priorat DOCa
Dominik Huber founded Terroir al LÃmit to challenge the high-alcohol, oak-heavy reputation of modern Priorat. Inspired by the traditional, infusion-style winemaking of Burgundy, he focuses on the historic villages of Torroja and Vilella Alta. Terra de Cuques is a blend of Pedro Ximénez and Muscat d'Alexandrie, sourced from high-altitude, organic vineyards planted on steep, slate- and clay-covered slopes.
In the cellar, Huber avoids new oak and extraction. The grapes undergo whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts and remain on their skins for up to two weeks. This process occurs in concrete tanks or large foudres rather than small barrels. The non-vintage approach ensures a consistent house style that prioritises texture and mineral tension over primary fruit.
Expect a glass defined by aromatic clarity. The nose offers orange blossom and wild herbs, while the palate presents a saline, phenolic grip reminiscent of dry sherry. It is a lean, structural wine with a long finish of crushed stone. This bottling represents a shift toward freshness, making it a benchmark for those seeking the rugged elegance of the Catalan hills.
