ABOUT THE WINERY
Tintara
Dr. Alexander Kelly was a pioneer of the McLaren Vale region as far back as 1861, where he set up the Tintara winery and vineyards in an inhospitable region. His success in McLaren Vale inspired Thomas Hardy (of Hardy’s ancestry) to purchase the winery and vineyards in 1876, realising the potential of the McLaren Vale region, and further purchasing land throughout McLaren Vale. Tintara has a reputation for full-bodied plush reds from Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, long-lived and intense. They have also created a single vineyard range that represents the best expression of Shiraz from different sites in McLaren Vale.
