Vietti Monvigliero Verduno, Barolo DOCG

Vietti’s Monvigliero is drawn from one of Verduno’s most historic crus, a steep, south-west facing vineyard long valued for a more aromatic, lifted expression of Nebbiolo. Vietti has farmed Monvigliero with care for decades, treating it as a standalone wine well before the site achieved wider acclaim. The vineyard’s calcareous marl soils and cooler exposure shape a Barolo of line and finesse rather than weight.

Fermentation is traditional, with extended maceration to build structure without excess. Ageing takes place in large Slavonian oak botti, preserving site character and avoiding overt oak influence. The hand of the late Luca Currado remains evident: restraint, precision, and respect for place.

The nose typically shows rose petal, red cherry, wild strawberry, and hints of spice. On the palate, the wine is fine-boned and persistent, with bright red fruit, savoury undertones and firm, powdery tannins. A Barolo of clarity and quiet authority, suited to both the table and the cellar.
