Huon Hooke
Very deep, bold red/purple colour, youthful and fresh, as is the bouquet. There are intense, fresh, vibrant ripe blackberry and blackcurrant cabernet aromas galore and oak takes a back-seat. A very smart, elegant, intense and tidily-constructed cabernet. It shouts "Coonawarra."

Strong choc-berry scents, sweet-ripe berry aromas, a very lush perfume, not so much luxurious as decadent. Yes, decadent is a good word. Supple and slow moving in the palate, generous sluice of chocolatey tannins, soft plummy fruit, a lick of black olive and mint nice-bitterness. Really lovely open weave tannins and sense of freshness. It’s all here, all going on. Deliciousness writ large.

"Medium deep crimson. Fragrant blackcurrant mulberry herb garden aromas with underlying roasted chestnut/ vanilla notes. An inky textured sinuous wine with pure blackcurrant mulberry fruits, plentiful fine loose-knit chalky textures, lovely mid palate richness and underlying savoury roasted nut notes. Builds up torque at the finish with al-dente firm tannin grip, persistent dark fruits and attractive mineral length. A classical style Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon showing the elegance, generosity and power derived from a rare long growing season."

"The fruit is effortless, the tannin is sturdy, the finish is long and satisfying. Blackcurrant, violet, mint and cedar wood characters combine to form a classic whole. The reputation of Black Label cabernet precedes it but this is an excellent version. It's medium in weight but it has torque, grip and acceleration. It takes the palate on; not to mention the future."

"This delivers a very rich, ripe impression with abundant dark-plum, chocolate and blackcurrant aromas, framed in cedar and purple-olive nuances. The palate is plush, elegant and packed with dark-fruit flavor. The tannins carry long."
