There is no other wine. The 1.81-hectare monopole in Vosne-Romanée produces, in most vintages, fewer than 6,000 bottles — each one numbered, each one an event. Romanée-Conti has been considered the world's greatest wine for centuries, and the domaine has done nothing to undermine that claim. It is not merely the finest expression of pinot noir; it is the wine against which all others are ultimately, impossibly, measured. Drinking it is not a tasting note. It is an experience.
